Introduction to "Eat Right to Live"

In my "Eat right to live" blog, I plan to discuss various topics in regards to our overall health. Understanding nutrition, your chemical make-up, and bloodtype are important factors in knowing what food groups you should eat more or less of. Your food/calorie consumption plays a huge role in weight loss and maintaining your current weight. How you perceive food...are you living to eat or eating to live?

Water consumption is very important because are bodies are made up of about 43%-75% H20, depending upon age, body fat etc. Water serves as a medium to carry metabolic wastes away from the body - this is accomplished in the form of urine and sweat. Think of it as a detoxifying agent. This is one of the most important functions of water in our body (although not very highly appreciated often in daily life).

Daily supplements also help aid in your journey to optimal helath Vitamin C, Chromium, and B12 are all good choices, whether taken individually or as a whole after a meal. Any form of excercise for at least 20 mins will get your heart-rate up to maintain a healthy weight.

Cooking with oilve oil, baking your foods and eating more fresh fruits and vegetables are neccessary for optimal health. Fresh water fish are good choices; trout, salmon, tilipia, cod and flounder. Try to stay away from fish that have lot of mercury, such as; swordfish and shark. Chicken, veal, turkey, and lamb are as well great proteins that are easier to digest then lets say..beef or pork. Try not to cook your veggies to long because you strip them of their nutrients that way. Steaming or stir fry are great alternatives for veggies that you want to enjoy cooked. You can eat as many fruits and vegetables as you  like...they wont hurt you. They also contain water which helps if you having trouble drinking 8 glasses of water a day.

Children "mimic" what their parents do! You cant expect your child or the child you are caring for to be oblivious to your eating habits. They will convey your behavior at an early age and start developing their own bad habits of; junk-food consumption and over-eating. Sometimes a child will be born with certain heredity issues, which will call for you to help keep them on a healthy eating pattern. We must learn to say "NO" to the fast foods, junk foods, sugary cereals, sugary drinks etc on a DAILY BASIS!

I have pretty much covered what I will be discussing, and also researching more myself in regards to eating right to live. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments...they are all welcome..I hope you enjoy reading my daily post, just as much as I enjoy writing them:)
